Prostatic enlargement is a common problem in old age. Large no. of patients is treated by medical therapy & accurate evaluation of their complaints. Nearly all patients who require surgery for prostate can be treated successfully without any incision by TURP. Under anesthesia, per urethral endoscope is inserted & under vision prostate is resected. Patient requires 2 to 4 days hospitalization & 1 week rest. Usually patient does not requires blood transfusion & patient can tolerate endoscopic surgery very well without risk of incontinence of urine.
